What humidity actually does to a kitchen
Compressed timber board is made of fibres bonded with adhesive. In a humid environment those fibres absorb moisture from the air — not from a leak, from the air itself — and swell. The swelling is slow and invisible at first. Then the door edges thicken, the hinges stop aligning, and the base under the sink softens.
This is why kitchens that perform well in Riyadh sometimes fail in Al-Ahsa, with no obvious cause and no leak to blame.

- Board-based materials — possible, with a specific specification. If you want acrylic, formica or timber here, we insist on: moisture-resistant board in every wet unit rather than only the sink cabinet, 2 mm heat-bonded edge banding without exception, and raised plinths on adjustable legs.

A timber plinth resting directly on the floor. In a humid city this is not a small compromise — it is the single most reliable way to destroy a kitchen. Every cabinet we build stands on adjustable plastic legs behind a removable plinth, in every city, but in Al-Ahsa it is non-negotiable.
And run the extractor
Steam from cooking adds to ambient humidity in an already humid climate. Venting outside rather than recirculating is the cheapest protection any Al-Ahsa kitchen can have.
